Frequently Asked Questions
What are the steps to submit a listing?
1. Register (automatically processed. System will send you an immediate email to activate your registration)
2. Activate your registration (by clicking the link in the above email)
3. Log-in
3. Go to your most appropriate Category, or Sub-category, using the left menu or Directory Index.
4. Click the "Suggest a Listing" link (Your submission form for that category will then be presented)
What content is required in my listing?
All submissions will be reviewed by a human.
A Brief Description of 30-250 characters, a Business Profile of 300-1000 characters and key search words for your industry. A photo (up to 450x450 jpg or gif) is optional but recommended. Choose an email address that won’t need to be changed when personnel change.
The key requirement here is that your description and business profile must be Original. IE not copied word for word from your web site or from other directories where you have listed the site.
Our listing effectively gives you a separate web page on our site pointing to your site, and If you don’t write original material there, then this page will be classified as duplicate material and be downgraded by the major search engines.
Can I list my web site for Free?
If your site is Australian gifts and homewares industry related, then Yes. There are 3 levels of listings offered:-
- Free Listing - $0
(If your products Description and business Profile are acceptable), Listed in the appropriate category and in the order ranked by our visitors - Allows one photo but requires an ORIGINAL products Description and a separate ORIGINAL business Profile of 300-1000 characters - This listing plan also creates a separate Profile Page on our site, with direct natural link to your site and additionally your profile will be published in our News Magazine.
- Free Associate Listing - $0
(If your products Description and business Profile are acceptable), ALSO displays your listing prominently above Free Listings in your chosen category and highlighted - Also you get to place 3 Deep Links to other areas of your website in your profile page - Reverts to standard free listing, if Link to our Associate site is not maintained. (Please take sample Associates Link code from our Link To Us page and install that NOW, as the submission will fail without that being in place. Note: the Link To Us must be on a page linked DIRECTLY from your main page, or on your main page)
- Sponsored Listing Giftware.net.au - US$10
(If your products Description and business Profile are acceptable), ALSO displays your listing prominently in your chosen category, above free listings & Associate listings and highlighted, PLUS near the top of one other Category or Subcategory of your choice - Also you get to place 3 Deep Links to other areas of your website in your profile page - Cost US$10.00 - No Link To Us required. - Reverts to standard free listing unless renewed after 180 days. - (These listings get most of the traffic from our directory).
Can I list my Business without having a Website?
Yes and our listing page can be your website, however we currently only accept such listings providing a Free website page for agents . (Just register, log-in and go to that sub-categories then select the "Suggest A Listing " link.You will see the option for a "No Other Website" listing and if you use it, you wont be required to provide a website URL)
Once registered and listed, Can I suggest other relevant listings?
Yes you don’t have to be the site owner as long as your submissions are objective.
Can I get a paid Link?
We accept Sponsored Listings that get a preferred position in our directory as above however, please don't bother to ask for paid links (fixed links on ranked pages designed to transfer pagerank). We DONT do paid links, however our run-of site text banner ads with a natural link are almost equivalent to paid links, particularly when there are a limited number of advertisers.
Also you can get a sponsored directory listing with a natural link (on a page that is usually indexed promptly by the major search engines), keeping it near the top of the appropriate category of our directory. But only if your business fits within one of our categories. Also, if your business is accepted for listing, you receive an additional article in our news section with a natural link to your site.

Can I Edit My Listing?
We encourage businesses to update the business profile in their listing regularly. Please just log-in with the details supplied upon registration and edit your listing. Your revised listing will be submitted for review by our content team.

Lost Password?
If you still have access to the email associated with this listing, then you need only follow the Forgot Password process to get a new password issued and then log-in and edit the listing.
Can I Change my associated Email Address?
Not easily. We offer a free service on the basis that we keep administration duties down, so we expect you to help yourself. To change the email address associated with your listing you need to register again and then follow the Claim a Listing process.
How Can I claim and edit a Listing already in the Directory?
If you dont have access to the listing email address, you will need to have administrative access to your website. See the Claim a Listing instructions.
